Claires Court Outdoor Education offers a wonderful introduction to sailing on the River Thames in Maidenhead, Berkshire. Based at Maidenhead Sailing Club, their experienced instructors guide students from absolute beginners through to national and international level racing, following the RYA syllabus throughout. The school prides itself on developing both skills and confidence on the water, with a progressive approach that allows sailors to advance at their own pace. Beyond dinghy sailing, the outdoor education programme includes paddlesports from their base at Boulters Lock Island on the Thames, as well as Duke of Edinburgh's Award expeditions in the beautiful Chiltern Hills. For those looking to take their sailing further, there's also a Further Sailing Programme that can lead to basic instructor training. It's an ideal setting for young sailors to discover their passion for the water in a supportive, structured environment close to London.
