Blackwater Sailing Club is an active, family-focused club nestled on the beautiful Blackwater estuary in Essex. With over 1000 members, they welcome everyone from complete novices to experienced sailors, offering a wonderfully diverse range of water activities including dinghy and cruiser sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, foiling, stand-up paddle boarding, and rowing. As an RYA recognised training centre, they provide structured certification courses on their dedicated training lake, making it an ideal place to begin your sailing journey. Their popular "Friday Sailors" sessions offer relaxed social sailing for all skill levels, complete with tea and cake afterwards – perfect for building confidence in a supportive environment. The estuary location provides fantastic tidal sailing approximately two hours either side of high water, with opportunities to cruise beyond into the wider Essex waters. Their thriving cadet section for ages 8-18 makes this an excellent choice for families wanting to learn together.
