About

The British Keelboat League offers an exciting entry point into competitive sailing that's refreshingly accessible for sailors of all experience levels. Think of it as the Football Champions League of sailing – a national competition structure with 8 regional leagues across Britain, culminating in a British Final and pathways to European competition. What makes this organisation stand out is their "rock up and race" format. Teams don't need their own boat – boats are provided, and you rotate through different vessels during each event, racing short 15-20 minute windward-leeward courses. With on-water umpires settling protests immediately, the racing is fast, fair, and thrilling. Whether you're a club racer, dinghy sailor transitioning to keelboats, or part of a mixed-experience team, this is an excellent way to develop your racing skills in a supportive, competitive environment. Events take place at prestigious venues around the UK, from inland waters at Rutland to coastal racing in the Solent.
